Application Engineer
dSPACE International (Germany)
I am graduated from Mansoura
University, Faculty of Engineering, Computer Engineering and
Automatic Control department, Mansoura University consider
as one of the leading governmental universities in Egypt at
June 2003.
As many of the Egyptians fresh graduates, the selection of
the next step after the graduate is a hard decision.
I knew about the Information Technology Institute (ITI) from
my elder brother he was an ITInz too intake 16.
I decided to join the ITI too, but in a different area in a
new branch called Mechatronics. After the “9 months” diploma
program at the ITI, I get too much knowledge and practical
experience not only in the electrical engineering but also
in the mechanical engineering which was a question mark for
me as a computer engineer graduate.
I graduated from the ITI at July 2005, and I was the first
in Mechatronics Department.
As the most of my colleagues we decided to use the ITI Link
with Paderborn University (Germany) to complete our study
there and to get a master degree in, Joint Studies of
Applied Mechatronics”.
After studding some courses in the Paderborn University
which enable me to integrate with the German working
environment, then I applied for a master practical part at
dSPACE, dSPACE is the world’s leading producer of solutions
for developing and testing fast mechatronic control systems.
Their main application field is the automotive industry, but
they are also employed in drives, aerospace and industrial
automation.
My master degree thesis title was “Conception and
Implementation of a Real-Time Environment Simulation for
Testing Driver Assistant Systems”.
I finished my master and now working at dSPACE as an
application engineer.
I can summarized my experiences, that I had three succeed
steps in my practical life , started with joining the ITI
which was the main turn point, then complete my studies in
Germany at Paderborn University , and Joining dSPACE which
improved me as an engineer and provide me the meaning of
working in multinational firms.

Upon my graduation from ITI in
1995, I worked in RITSEC, along with my other job as a
research assistant in the National Telecommunication
Institute. I got a scholarship to join a master program
between RITI and the University of Louisville.
Upon the completion of my master, I traveled to the states
in late 1997 and started working in my PHD.
I was an adjunct lecturer in the MIS department of the
College of Business. I was awarded the first "computer
science and engineering doctoral award".
In 2000, I joined the University of North Florida as a
tenure track Assistant Professor in the department of
computer science.
I have published more than 25
papers, a book chapter, supervised about 20 graduate
students, promoted to be a senior IEEE member, chaired the
IEEE computer society in Jacksonville, FL, joined the
program committee of several international conferences, and
I’m an appointed reviewer to major journals.
In 2003, I was
a co-inventor with IxReveal Software Company’s founder on
two pending patent applications. And in 2006, I was promoted
to the Associate Professor rank and was awarded the tenure
status.
May I express my gratitude to ITI and its role in my colleagues and my career?
ITI helped shaping the future for many of its graduates. Now many of them hold excellent positions in their companies and many have further enhanced their career obtaining MBA and PhD. The skills acquired during our studies in ITI were the base for this progress. I strongly believe ITI graduates are the future IT leaders in Egypt.
Joining ITI was a turning point in my life leading to a
successful career. I changed from communication engineering to
computer science. ITI qualified me to a level enabling me to be
entitled to a Master Degree in Bergen University (Norway) to study
“System Dynamics” which is a new field in computer science and
management. This paved the way for me to get my Ph.D. from the same
university. I must say that ITI has a profound effect on my career
path. ITI availed to me several opportunities to acquire new
knowledge and skills.

ITI changed my whole life, Really I consider it
the most important step , It was like a factory that developed all
of my previous experiences, added more , and changed my way of
thinking from a computer user to IT professional with an open way of
thinking and ability not to take delivery of new technologies but to
add more value to it. On the other side ITI provided me with a
market recognized credential not in Egypt only but in the gulf area
where I’m working now.
ITI was a great step in my career since it made me able to compete
in a challenging and promising field I had became an Oracle
Application consultant working now in multinational company
providing ERP Solutions and E-Business Suites.
And now I'm responsible for several projects in the gulf area
specially Saudi Arabia
