Embedded Systems
Department Overview
Embedded system has been
defined as "A single-purpose computer built into a larger system for the
purposes of controlling and monitoring the system". Embedded systems range
from microprocessor-based control systems to DSP-based signal processing systems
to high performance systems on- chip (SoC). Embedded system development
comprises the design of the hardware fabric of any of these system, as well the
development of the embedded software component. A myriad of implementations can
be found in consumer electronics, medical devices and commercial and military
applications.
ITI is currently
establishing an Embedded systems platform to meet the requirements of both local
and international markets for highly trained embedded systems engineers.
Conditions
& Terms of Acceptance
Because of the required background, the Embedded Systems department accepts only
electronics & communications, computer, mechatronics and biomedical engineers.
Graduates Profile
The graduate, at the end of this
program, should be able to design the hardware component of Embedded
microcontroller-based, DSP-based, or SoC systems. He/She should also be able to
develop the Embedded software needed for any of these systems.
