Convergence of ICT and
Media Technologies
Department Overview
Dealing with converged
networks and services requires a combination of many skill sets,
this dictates adopting new trends in the ICT training especially
in networks infrastructure, and content development. The platform
main objective is to provide a profound understanding of the major
technological, financial, regulatory aspects of the media convergence
processes. There is a strong emphasis on programming with special
attention on developing content for NGN.
Conditions & Terms of Acceptance The
Media Convergence platform accepts only Computer or Telecommunications
engineers, since they have good and suitable telecommunication background.
Graduates Profile
The platform focuses on developing interactive content for both
fixed and mobile platforms, developing services and applications
that can be supported by all the future networks for data and telecommunication
as well as broadcasting and supporting services such as Voice over
IP (VoIP) telephony, real-time presentation, conferencing, communication,
and other services that combine voice and data, among offices in
a single building or across the world. The graduate would work as:

Digital media engineer:
Develop services and applications that can be supported by all
the future networks for data and telecommunication as well as
broadcasting.

Convergence Technician:
Handles support for Voice (including old telephony and Voice
over IP), Data (like regular computer networking), Video and
Image and Wired, wireless networks.

Home Technology Integrator:
Installs and integrates communications systems and entertainment
systems in the home, including: VoIP, video conference solutions
and wireless access with security.
Academic Recognition
There are chances for the graduates from the Media Convergence platform
to complete their master degrees through already established channels
with international universities such as:
