The Education
Development Program for Egyptian universities (EDUEgypt)
is the output of the cooperation protocol
signed between Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHE) in December, 2007.
This protocol outlined a general framework and an executive plan to conduct
undergraduate training on soft skills, language abilities, and technical
competence.
EDUEgypt Program is conducted for universities’ students during their
undergraduate study. The program is a milestone in bridging the employability
gap that helps Egyptian graduates leapfrog into a global workforce
culture. The program is executed jointly by the Information
Technology Institute (ITI) and the Information Technology Industry
Development Agency (ITIDA).
EDUEgypt supports
undergraduate training on soft skills, language abilities, and
technical competence. EDUEgypt enhances the skills of Egyptian university
graduates and prepares them for local and global marketplaces. This
effort is part of a workforce development initiative that aimed to reduce
the gap between student readiness and the employers expectations. About 2000 students
have successfully completed the first phase during the academic year
(2007-2008).
EDUEgypt Phase II Program
(2008-2009) started training more than 6000 students from nineteen faculties -
seven universities in seven governorates; Cairo, Ain Shams, Alexandria,
Helwan, Mansoura, Assuit and Zagazig.
EDUEgypt Phase II training program covers the following topics:
Language Skills, Customer Service Skills, Cultural Sensitization, PC and
Data Skills.
